I know right?? :o
The blue center is my Aunt who passed on Xmas day a few years ago. The red one is for my camper who died in a car wreck, and the yellow is for John. He doesnt get his favorite color since he bailed on us and I am still mad at him.
The artist went a different way than I had pictured it in my head, but Ohh.. I just loved it once I got used to the idea.. :o

Mine is a triquetra, we had them done to commemorate a gathering of three who had been friends for over thirty years. Each in our favorite color, luckily, all different. The other two got purple and green. First and only, it's about the size of a circled thumb and forefinger. We went to check out the parlor, which others had recommended, and the first book on the artists shelf was Celtic Knots, we knew we had our man!

ahhhh GORGEOUS!!! I'm so jealous! I've been wanting to get a tattoo for awhile now, but I know I'm so fickle that I need it to be just *perfect* or else I will hate it in a week
I want the quote "Living is easy with eyes closed" either right below my heart (slash below boobies :p ) or on my hip. I'd like the lyrics to be written in a bit of a calligraphy style, only black used but I want some type of abstract illustration surrounding/intertwining with it (again, only black just becaue I know I'm too fickle to get anything in color, and I'd hate it later.

Diggler might burn to know where (mine is slightly lower than Boonie's, same region) but I keep looking at Illy's and thinking- Daisy? Chrysanthemum? Coneflower?
Also, what sign are the hands making?

Left shoulder/back Diggler.
Ban-- Daisies. They are my favorite and were my aunts as well, also I figured I could then have them be different color centers...
The sign I am making is "CONNECT/RELATE"

I got this about a year and a half ago~. It is a memorial tattoo for my husband~ he was very into his Irish heritage, his Dad was from Ireland, and I wanted a way to always carry him with me, and when i saw this, I knew it was right~ it's on the inside of my left ankle. Inside because it's for me, not outsiders, and the left because that's the side you wear your wedding ring on.

Wow good stuff guys. :)
Still not sold on the tattoo thing, but I imagine if I did, I'd get a whole lot of green and a lot of song lyrics. If I could, I'd probably put all the lyrics of The Masterplan by Oasis on me. *picturing what my bony shoulder would look like with "Take the time to make some sense of what you want to say, and cast your words away upon the waves." or something along those lines.

Mine is right above my ankle bone, and it really barely hurt. Kind of like a burning sting. Did you ever get alcohol in a paper cut? A similar feeling, but only half as bad as that.

Ok, this is a long one so I won't take offense if no one reads it.
I have thought for dozens of years about what kind of tattoo I might like. I'm always getting and then rejecting ideas. I almost got a tattoo of a fleur de lis when I was living in Paris, but couldn't decide where I'd like it and could never decide what to pair with it. My favorite poems and saying about Paris that could possibly translate to a tattoo are all too long.
Lately, I think I've decided that if I'm going to get a tattoo, it has to be song lyrics. Music has always been an incredibly important part of my life, and I gravitate to music with phenomenal, poetic lyrics over everything else. Here's some of the options I've pondered for this:
1) Angel wings on/just above both of my shoulder blades and the Radiohead lyrics "Someday I am going to grow wings." When I was in high school, I thought of getting this, but with the full lyrics starting above and slightly to the left of the left wing "Someday I am going to grow wings," "a chemical reaction" below the left wing, "hysterical and useless"
above the right wing and "let down and hanging around" under the right wing. Radiohead was my favorite band for a very long time and letdown is still one of the most gorgeous songs I've ever heard. Also, letdown@aol.com was my one of my first email addys circa 1997. I now think the full lyrics might be a bit too much and too bitter and depressed for me to want to etch them into my back. But, "Someday I am going to grow wings" can sound cheesy by itself and doesn't really convey the emotion of that song at all. Plus, a good amount of people have angel wing tattoos on their shoulder blades now.. so... I'm not so sure.
Then, I recently stumbled across this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jaci_sue/4533047958/sizes/m/in/pool-1325190@N24/) (it's protected so I can't save or embed it), and now I'm thinking that I might actually like the wings just above my ass. But, if I'm gonna do that, it will have to be the wings only, because I think the lyrics wouldn't look as nice there. But, I'm still worried that the presence of wings on that part of my back will look a bit... visually off. So, I'm almost back to the original high school idea. However, I try to remind myself that there's a very good chance I won't look as elegant and cool as Angelina Jolie in a low back dress with tattoos all over my upper back.
2) Arcade Fire has become one of my, if not my favorite band, over the past few years. One lyric that I just LOVE from a song I find painfully beautiful and sad is "I carved your name across my eyelids. You pray for rain. I pray for blindness." I can't decide where I want it though. Somewhere slightly diagonally down my side could work... not in a straight across line, but a bit winding with the lines not starting at the same point, so it almost looks like it was scrawled on me... almost like artistic organized chaos. The other place I could get it is on the back of my shoulder, in a couple neat, cursive lines. However, there, I feel like it could lend itself to a pairing with some kind of artwork. I can visualize something drawn around it, or off to the sides of it, or even in the center of the text... but I can't figure out what it is. Not a heart, as I'm not big into the visual of a heart, but something in that vein. So, placement and pairing is my biggest issue here.
Also, this would be a tragic prophecy if I was to ever go blind.
3) Another lyric I love, also from Arcade Fire, is "If the power is out in the heart of man, take it from your heart, put it in your hand." I would probably use the shorter "Take it from your heart, put it in your hand." However, the only place I really feel is appropriate for this is on my wrist or the underside of my forearm. But, there's no way I can get away with that as an attorney, at least not at this point in my career. So, I am trying to think of where else it can go. But, I feel that anywhere else, it probably needs something to go with it (plus I just like the idea of more colorful art if I'm going to put it on my shoulder or upper arm). However, this could also go on my side in script.
:sigh: And this is why I don't have a tattoo to date. So many questions and possibilities. I think I need to sit down with an artist...
Yeah you're clearly not allowed to get ANY tattoos. Ever.
